1. Can I do RON and IPEN signings on Simply Secure Sign?
Yes, Simply Secure
Sign is an e-closing platform with RON and IPEN capabilities. Please confirm your commissioned state(s)
allows RON and/or IPEN signings.
2. What states allow me to use this platform for RON and IPEN signings?
All 50 states
allow IPENs if you are a commissioned notary in that state. Most states allow RONs, but check your state
regulations. California and the District
of Columbia expressly do not allow RONs at this time.
3. What are the computer/device size limitations for closings?
The screen of
the device used for signings needs to be at least ten inches.
4. Is there a way for me to practice closings before doing the real thing?
Yes, notaries
can do signings on demo document packages.
Click the “?” button at the bottom right of the closing dashboard. Click “Generate Demo Closing”. Enter the Schedule Date, Closing Type, and
Signer email. Click Submit.
5. Do I need to tell the state that I’m doing electronic signings and using this platform?
Check your state
regulations before doing electronic signings on Simply Secure Sign. Depending on the state, a notary may have to
inform officials about the use of this platform.
6. What is recommended for a stable internet connection during e-closings?
A Wi-Fi signal,
Ethernet cable, or reliable hotspot are all viable internet connections, and
the recommended minimum download speed is 15mbps. Please test your internet speed before
scheduling RON or IPEN closings.
7. If I get commissioned in other states, can I do signings in those states?
Yes, Simply Secure
Sign supports dual commissioned notaries.
If you have multiple active commissions, you will be required to select
which commission you are using before performing a notarization.
8. What happens if the internet connection goes down during the signing? Does the signing restart or pick up where the signing left off?
The signing
resets from the beginning. Please test
your internet speed before scheduling RON or IPEN closings. The recommended download speed is 15 mbps.
9. Is Simply Secure Sign an approved platform for RON/IPEN signings in all states?
Yes. Please confirm your commissioned state(s)
allows RON and/or IPEN signings. Check
your state regulations before doing electronic signings on Simply Secure Sign. Depending on the state, a notary may have to
inform officials about the use of this platform.
10. Can I use Simply Secure Sign for multiple title agencies and lenders?
Yes. The Simply Secure Sign platform is open to
all lenders and title agencies. Check
the relevant state-specific regulations for your ability to perform IPEN and/or
RON signings.
11. Is a third-party digital certification (e.g. Identrust) needed for notaries?
No, Simply
Secure Sign provides each notary a digital certificate. We can use a third party certificate, but it will
be up to the notary to keep that certificate updated if she replaces the one
provided.
12. Can I receive RON assignments from any state?
As long as your
state’s RON statute says you can, we allow you to notarize for a signer in any
state.
13. What are the rules for doing signings outside of notaries’ commissioned states?
A notary must comply with the RON statutes of his state, and he must be within the bounds of the state in which he is performing a RON.
